WAIT! Hold up! Some info on the Mido Commander Big Date, please?
Sure thing, watchfam! The Mido Commander Big Date was introduced at the start of 2018 to coincide with the brand’s 100th anniversary. As you can probably tell, the most defining feature of this watch is the large date aperture at 6 o’clock. Mido even states that the size of the aperture is “on of the largest on the market in this price segment.”
As mentioned earlier, the 316L stainless steel case measures 42 mm and sports a delicate polished bezel. Elsewhere, a sapphire crystal seals a satin finish dial with polished, applied indices. The hands are diamond cut while a white Super-LumiNova treatment on the hands and at the base of each hour marker ensure great legibility in dimly-lit conditions.
Inside, the watch is powered by the brand’s Caliber 80 automatic movement which is based on ETA’s own C07.651 movement. Mido quotes an 80-hour power reserve, by the way. As for the movement itself, it ticks at 3 Hz and is visible through the transparent case back. Additionally, the watch has a water resistance rating of 50 m.
Moving on, a total of four variants feature in the Commander Big Date lineup. Firstly, two versions come on a stainless steel bracelet with one featuring a silver dial and the other, a sunburst anthracite-grey dial. Next up, we have a pair with rose gold PVD accents. The first of the two sports a stainless steel bracelet with similar accents. Last but not least, the fourth variant goes for a black dial with a rose gold case and is paired to a leather strap.
Sounds like a solid watch! So, I just upload my big moments? That’s it?
Yes, that’s pretty much it. Remember to upload your most memorable moments on Facebook and/or Instagram and tag it with #MyMidoBigDate. Then just sit back and keep your fingers crossed! For more information and the terms and conditions of the campaign, visit Mido Malaysia’s official website here.
