“Babe, wake up. Seiko just dropped a new Presage Series along with a-“

Did you say new diver as well?
Yes.
So, where were we?
First, let’s immerse ourselves in the Presage Classic Series. Inspired by the “vibrant colors, intricate textures, and timeless beauty of Japanese culture”, the Presage Classic Series pays homage to this rich heritage by incorporating a textured and curved dial.

Tech specs include a 40.2 mm stainless steel case with “super-hard coating” and a new “multi-row” (or pseudo beads-of-rice) bracelet. The three-hander versions are powered by the Calibre 6R55 while the open-heart variants are powered by the Calibre 6R5J. Both 24-jeweled movements provide a power reserve of 72 hours and beat at a rate of 3 Hz. Water resistance is rated at 100 m.
Elsewhere, a dual-curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating sits above several dial options with off-white, anthracite and a salmon-peach colour options.
“And another new diver?”
Well, not quite new NEW but major talking points include the Calibre 6R55 making its debut in the Prospex line for a total power reserve of 72 hours, a change in the date window to 4:30 and 300 m of water resistance. The latter is a first for the collection’s non-saturation dive watches.
Enter, the Seiko Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver. Available in blue and black in a 40 mm case and, more importantly, a lug to lug of just 46.4 mm, it’s bound to be another diver that has visual presence and manages to fit most wrist sizes.
But wait, there’s more! In celebration of Seiko’s 100th anniversary, they’re pulling out all the stops with a special edition Prospex with a sleek charcoal-grey dial and gold-colored accents. But here’s the cherry on top – it comes with a strap made entirely of recycled plastic bottles, showcasing Seiko’s commitment to sustainability without compromising on quality or style.

The strap is also said to possess a tensile strength of four times that of a regular Seiko strap.
Models from both collections are said to hit the market in June 2024 so we’ll just have to wait till then for local pricing. Best start saving, then.
