“Seiko Prospex 2025: Because 60 Years of Dive Watches Deserves a Party (and Maybe a Nap)”

Ah, Seiko Prospex dive watches. They’ve been around for 60 years, surviving shipwrecks, deep-sea expeditions, and that one friend who somehow always forgets to screw down the crown. And now, to celebrate this milestone, Seiko is launching three new Prospex models – along with a new feature that’s gonna’ make enthusiasts shed tears of joy. Let’s dive in – pun absolutely intended.
“The Marinemaster: A Watch Tougher Than Your Gym Routine”
First up, we’ve got the Seiko Prospex 60th Anniversary Marinemaster Professional (SLA081) with a one-piece 45.4 mm by 16 mm-thick titanium case and bracelet. The dial on this thing is inspired by shinkai, or “the deep sea.” Then, there’s the stainless steel bezel insert with a diamond-like carbon coating for added durability.

That earlier mentioned one-piece titanium case construction ensures a water resistance depth of 600 meters, suitable for saturation diving. It also features a specially developed L-shaped gasket to prevent helium infiltration, eliminating the need for an escape valve.
Movement wise, it’s packing the Calibre 8L45. The 4 Hz, 35-jeweled movement has a power reserve of 72 hours and an accuracy rating of +10/-5 seconds per day.
On to the titanium bracelet. A new design sees rounded links being included to provide a more comfortable and flexible fit but the biggest news is the adoption of an adjustable clasp with six steps of adjustment – 2.5 mm for each increment for a total of 15 mm.

It’s like Seiko finally figured out that wrists change size when you dive (or when you eat too much pizza). Better late than never, right?
And the best part? It’s a feature that’s making its debut not just on the Marinemaster but also the next two models!
“Two More Watches (Because Why Stop at One?)”
But wait, there’s more! Seiko has two more watches joining the party, because apparently, they can’t help it. The two are inspired by Seiko’s OG diver’s watches from 1965 and 1968. The Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver’s Watch (SPB511) has a silver dial (classic, timeless, like your dad’s favorite dad jokes) and the Prospex 1968 Heritage Diver’s GMT (SPB509) comes with a blue dial because blue is the new black, or something.

Both draw inspiration from the wave mark and both come powered by 6R calibres. The SPB511 is equipped with the 6R55 movement with 72 hours or power reserve and a water resistance rating of 300 m. The case, like its other 62MAS-inspired siblings, measures 40 mm with a thickness of 13 mm.
The SPB509 comes with the 6R54 movement which boasts similar specs except for the addition of the GMT function. Case size is 42 mm and thickness is 13.3 mm.
“Limited Edition (So You Better Move Fast)”
As with all good things, these watches won’t be around forever. The Marinemaster is limited to 600 pieces, while the 6R-powered models have 6,000 each. That means if you want one, you might have to move quicker than a diver spotting a shark.
The former will drop in July this year while the latter hits shelves a month earlier.
