“A Blast from the Past: The King Seiko Vanac Returns!”

Dust off your bell-bottoms and crank up the disco tunes, because the King Seiko Vanac is making a comeback, and it’s bringing all the swagger of the 1970s with it. First hitting the scene in ‘72, the Vanac was the wild child of the King Seiko lineup—bold, colorful, and unapologetically flashy. Now, more than 50 years later, Seiko is resurrecting this icon with a modern twist, and trust us, it’s got all of Tony Manero’s moves.

The OG King Seiko Vanac
“Tokyo Horizon: The Inspiration Behind the Design”
Picture this: the sprawling, neon-lit skyline of Tokyo, stretching out as far as the eye can see. That’s the vibe King Seiko is channeling with the new Vanac. The 41 mm by 14.3mm-thick case and dial are inspired by the ever-changing Tokyo horizon – so we get a total of five dial variants. The watch has a strong, angular design that looks like it was carved straight out of a block of metal, but don’t let that fool you—it’s as playful as it is chonky.
The dial sports a horizontal stripe pattern and a distinctive “V” motif at 12 o’clock and on the seconds hand. Above sits a box-shaped sapphire crystal with AR (anti-reflective) coating. Available in deep purple (SLA083), navy blue (SLA085), and silver (SLA087), these dials scream ‘70s style but with the finesse of 2025 craftsmanship. And for those who like a little exclusivity, there’s a golden-brown limited edition (SLA089, 700 pieces worldwide) and a boutique-exclusive ice blue version (SLA091).
The integrated bracelet has a mix of mirror and hairline finishing and comes with quick-release capabilities – a slightly strange move but might hint at incoming in-house bracelets and straps.
“Stayin’ Alive with the Caliber 8L45″
Now, let’s get technical for a sec. The new Vanac is powered by Seiko’s latest 8L45 movement. The movement beats at 4 Hz and has a 72-hour power reserve, thanks to an upgraded mainspring and it’s accurate to within +10/-5 seconds per day. Plus, for the first time since King Seiko’s relaunch in 2022, you can actually see the movement through a sapphire crystal case back.

Water resistance is rated at a more than decent 100 m so going from the disco to the pool is definitely on the cards.
“Ready to Boogie?”
Set to drop in July 2025, the King Seiko Vanac collection will, once again, come with three series production references (deep purple [SLA083], navy blue [SLA085], and silver [SLA087]). The limited edition golden-brown (SLA089) will be available in a 700-unit run and lastly, an ice blue boutique exclusive (SLA091).
