“It’s okay to not dislike a chronograph when it looks like this…”
If you squint hard enough, you might just be able to spot the Mido Multifort Patrimony Chronograph–
Oh, who am I kidding?! That’s not it. Trust me, I followed that series and the entire time I was left guessing what Kim Soo-hyun was wearing on his wrist while in character. In any case, here is a bit of context to today’s small write-up. Earlier this year, Mido announced one of its newest ambassador, South Korean actor, Kim Soo-hyun.
For those new to the South Korean entertainment scene, check out ‘It’s Okay to Not Be Okay‘ on Netflix. I promise you, he’s more than a handsome face. It’s not easy being one of South Korea’s highest paid actors and I’m pretty sure you need the acting chops to back up one’s looks.
“So, you were saying… Mido’s new(ish) Multifort Patrimony Chronograph?”
Ah, yes. In early 2021, Mido revealed the Multifort Patrimony Chronograph to sit alongside the ‘regular’ Multifort Patrimony models. Considering that they’ve just signed on one of South Korea’s biggest stars to wear their watches, the marketing team wasted no time in putting him to work.
“What about the watch itself?”
In terms of technical specifications, Mido is doing it right again by offering quite a fair bit for not a lot of money. There are three variants of the Multifort Patrimony Chronograph, priced from RM7,880 to RM8,310. The watch comes in a 42 mm case with or without rose gold PVD coating (depending on variant chosen), an exhibition caseback and box-shaped sapphire crystal.
On the inside, Mido has equipped the Multifort Patrimony Chronograph with its Calibre 60 movement. The 27-jeweled, ETA A05.H31-based élaboré grade movement ticks at a rate of 4 Hz and has a power reserve of 60 hours. Water resistance is capped at 50 m.
Obviously, we get the chronograph functionality over the regular Multifort Patrimony models and while I’m not the biggest fan of chronos, I really appreciate the use of two sub-dials instead of the usual tri-layout. If you look closer, you’ll be able to spot the date window at the 6 o’clock mark. All variants come standard with a crocodile leather strap equipped with a steel buckle.
